Morgan Heim
Morgan Heim is a conservation photographer and filmmaker exploring personal, human stories behind protecting wildlife and their ecosystems. With degrees in zoology and journalism, she shares the beauty, humor and perseverance in wildlife stories, and how those relationships shape our lives. Her stories include following deer migrations, the impacts of drug cartels on public lands, fat reindeer, and how seabirds serve as barometers of climate change. Heim is a National Geographic Explorer, a senior fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, an Osher Fellow, and founder of Neon Raven Story Labs, a production company dedicated to stories of conservation. In 2025, her film “Reindalen” won the Conservation - Short Form category at the Jackson Wild Media Awards. Another film, “The Snow Guardian,” has garnered more than 13 million views on National Geographic’s Youtube channel. She is a multiyear recipient of Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Big Picture and Siena International Photography Awards. You can find her work in outlets such as National Geographic, Audubon, Smithsonian and The New York Times. She lives in Astoria, Oregon, where the waves are big, the mountains close and the weather not nearly as bad as everyone thinks it is. Visit morganheim.com and neonravenlab.com to learn more.
